Z uvajanjem hibridov v pridelavo so šle "heirloom" sorte nekoliko v pozabo, zaradi zanimivih barv in oblik pa postajajo ponovno aktualne. Kljub pričakovano večji rodnosti hibrida so nekatere "herloom" sorte statistično primerljive s hibridom (skupni 26,9 in tržni pridelek 20,2 t/ha). Kultivar značilno vpliva na ocene všečnosti senzorično ocenjevanih "heirloom" sort 'Goldfisch', 'Orange Banana' in 'Super Snow White'.

Title:ANALYTICAL AND SENSORY PROPRIETIES OF COMMERCIALLY LESS GROWN – "Heirloom" Tomato Varieties
Abstract:The term "heirloom" is used to describe tomato varieties, which are commercially less interesting and are maintained by individuals. The introduction of hybrids into agricultural production caused the "heirlooms" to become somewhat forgotten, but due to their interesting shapes and colors, they are becoming popular again. The purpose of the experiment, set up in 2014 at the UKC Pohorski dvor, was to evaluate the impact of cultivars on growth, productivity, analytical and sensory quality, as well as their susceptibility to late blight. The experiment included the following cultivars: 'White Oxheart', 'Goldfisch', 'Super Snow White', 'Aunt Ruby's German Green', 'Orange Banana', 'OSU Blue', 'Striped Cavern', and the hybrid 'Optima F1'. The results show that some characteristics of the varieties caused the yield to get lower rankings in quality standards (variability of fruit, lack of uniform ripening, cracking). Despite the expected higher productivity of the hybrid (total 27.1 and marketable yield 6.8 kg plot-1), some of the "heirloom" varieties were statistically comparable. The comparable varieties with the hybrid were 'Aunt Ruby's German Green' in total yield (25.9 kg plot-1) and 'Aunt Ruby's German Green' and 'Godfisch' in marketable yield (6.5 and 6.4 kg plot-1). In comparison with the hybrid, the varieties 'Goldfisch', 'Super Snow White', 'Orange Banana', and 'Aunt Ruby's German Green' had a higher amount of dry matter. The variety 'OSU Blue' is very susceptible to late blight, while the other varieties are comparable with the hybrid. The cultivar had an impact on the sensory ratings of the likeability of the "heirloom" varieties 'Goldfisch', 'Orange Banana', and 'Super Snow White'.
