Abstract:
V diplomskem delu smo podali dokaj podroben opis nekaterih metod stiskanja podatkov in njihovo praktično uporabo na področju procesiranja slik. Obravnavali smo tako brezizgubne kot tudi izgubne metode stiskanja slik, razvili programe v programskem jeziku Python, jih zaganjali na miniračunalniku Raspberry Pi in za nameček preverili, kaj nam v tem oziru ponuja Matlab. Zato smo dodali opis potrebne strojne in programske opreme. Opisali smo tudi posebnosti pri nameščanju programske opreme in nekatere težave pri delovanju. Po našem mnenju programski jezik Matlab ni primeren za učinkovito skriptno zajemanje in stiskanje slik na Raspberryju Piju v realnem času.

IMAGES COMPRESSION ON MINICOMPUTER RASPERRY PI FOR REMOTE MONITORING APPLICATIONS
Abstract:
In a diploma thesis we gave a pretty detailed description of some data compression methods and their practical realization in the field of image processing. We dealt with lossless and lossy image compression methods, developed the programs in Python programming language, and executed them on Raspberry Pi minicomputer. In addition, we examined what MATLAB programming language has to offer in this respect. For this reason we added a description of hardware and software. We also described software installation peculiarities and some functional problems that we encountered. In our opinion, programming language MATLAB isn't suitable for effective programmatic acquisition and compression of images on Raspberry Pi in real time.
