Title:MICROFILTRATION OF FERMENTATION BROTH
Abstract:Our assignment was to study how the use of filter moduls with pore size 0,5 μm and 0,8 μm affect the process of microfiltration of fermentation broth. We focused on efficiency and duration of process. We performed the experiments on pilot plant unit for a crossflow microfiltration, which worked with constant transmembrane pressure or with constant flow of permet. We measured the fluks of permeat, transmembrane pressure and solute rejection factor. With results that we collected from experiments we determined that the use of filter moduls with pore size of 0,8 μm would decrease the time of microfiltration of fermentation broth from 36 to 40 hours to 23 to 26 hours. With use of filter modul with pore size of 0,8 μm we would also increase the efficiency of the process. The solute rejection factor was lower on pilot plant unit for a crossflow microfiltration than on industrial crossflow microfiltration. The lower solute rejection factor presents better efficiency of process
Keywords:microfiltration, permeat, permeat fluks, solute rejection factor, transmembrane pressure
