Title:IMPACT OF PRODUCTION SYSTEMS ON YIELD AND MORFOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TWO LETTUCE CULTIVARS
Abstract:Different productions systems (PS) can be a decisive factor for growth and development of vegetables and their integration into production. In the year 2015 we compared the yield and morphological properties of two varieties of lettuce in the organic (ORG), biodynamic (BD), conventional (CON), and integrated (INT) agricultural production and in control treatment (C), within the longitudinal experiment which took place at the University Agriculture Centre Pohorski dvor, and has been running since 2007. Production system has a significant effect on total yield (low C (19,92 t ha^(-1)) and high BD (33,46 t ha^(-1))) and on marketable yield (low C (13,94 t ha^(-1)), high BD (27,40 t ha^(-1) )). There are no significant differences in yields of two studied varieties of lettuce ('Comice' and 'Leda'). PS does not significantly affect the market mass and the height of rosettes. The height of rosettes is significantly different between two varieties of lettuce. PS has a significant effect on perimeter of lettuces (low C (47 cm), high BD (57 cm)) but there is no significant effect between the two varieties of lettuce. PS has a significant effect on the diameter of rosettes (low C (18 cm), high BD (23 cm)), as well there are significant differences between the two varieties. PS has a significant effect on the total mass of the rosettes (low C (193 g), high BD (303 g), but there is no significant differences between the two varieties. Based on these results, we can conclude that we can within ORG and BD production achieve comparable results as in CONV and INT production.
