Abstract:V diplomskem delu je predstavljena uporaba deponijskega plina in odpadnih olj za pogon mikro-soproizvodnje električne energije in toplote. Simulacija procesa soproizvodnje električne energije in toplote z izrabo deponijskega plina in odpadnih olj je obsegala simulacijo kompresorjev zraka in deponijskega plina, zgorevalne komore, turbine in prenosnikov toplote.

Title:The drying of municipal waste sludge using micro cogeneration with landfill gas and waste oils
Abstract:This thesis presents the application of landfill gas and waste oils in micro cogeneration unit that generates electricity and heat. In this way we could produce useful energy exploiting the combination of two different waste energy products and at the same time get rid of hazardous waste. This presents a form of a circular economy, which has been of interest lately. The chemical process simulation software Aspen Plus® V8.0 was used for the process simulation. The simulation of co-generation of electricity and heat was composed of simulations of compressors for air and gaseous fuel, combustion chamber, turbine and heat exchangers. The produced electricity can be feed into the electricity grid and the heat can be used for drying of municipal sludge of the nearby wastewater treatment plants. Some unwanted polluting emissions are also present in the flue gases during the cogeneration process. However, those emissions are in the range of allowed values. The process of drying of municipal sludge was presented on the basis of the simulation results and data from industrial practice. Furthermore, an economic analysis was undertaken that takes into account the reduction of the moisture content of municipal sludge and thus the costs related to the transport of the sludge to the facilities for ecologically safe waste disposal.
