Rezultate smo analizirali s programom SPSS 21.0 in Excel 2010.

Title:THE COLOR IMPACT ON HUMAN IN HOME ENVIRONMENT
Abstract:Background We are surrounded by colours at every moment of our lives, and they consciously and subconsciously affect the quality of life of each individual. For most people, the local environment is the only environment where they can relax and tailor their environment to suit their lifestyle. It is therefore essential that there is an appropriate choice of colours in this environment. Purpose The objective of this study was to ascertain whether people were satisfied with the choice of colours in their home environment, the factors which influenced their decision when choosing colours, which colours were generally favoured and whether they used the same or different colours in living spaces designated for different purposes. Research methodology The study, which involved 103 people aged 18 years and above, was carried out using questionnaires. The results were analysed using the SPSS 21.0 program and Excel 2010. The following statistical methods were used for data processing purposes: - Calculation of frequencies and percentages - Calculation of percentages of questions with multiple choice answers - Calculation of mean values - Pearson's chi-square test - Binomial test. Results Two-thirds of the respondents who participated in this research study were female and one-third male. Almost half were aged 32–45 years and the smallest group was aged 60 years and above. When decorating their home environments, soft pastel colours prevailed, followed in popularity by bright, vibrant colours or a combination thereof. Only a small percentage of people favoured darker and more subdued colours. The respondents opted for a similar choice of colours in all their living spaces, despite each having a different purpose (i.e. kitchen, bedroom and living room). Regarding the choice of colour, people usually decided on the basis of factors incorporating their personal nature but most of the respondents put the importance of practicality before trends or any prior knowledge of the impact of colour. For people decorating their home environment, the colours which featured in their childhood home environment only partly influenced their later choice of colours. A smaller proportion of the respondents believe that colours have no influence on their mood or wellbeing; however, among those who think the opposite to be the case, many do indeed feel that the colours in their domestic environment have a positive effect on them. Over half of the respondents were completely satisfied with their choice of colours, a good one-third were only partly happy, and a negligible percentage were completely dissatisfied. Opinions on whether they had devoted enough time to choosing the right colours for their domestic environment was divided, and was evenly distributed between those, on the one hand, who thought that enough time had been devoted to this task and those, on the other, who thought that they could have spent more time and gained more knowledge on the influence of colour. Conclusions We found that, despite the fact that a high percentage of people were aware of the impact of colour in their home environment, the prevailing opinion was that they should have devoted more time to choosing their colours and gaining more knowledge about their effects before decorating their home and that this is the key to having a pleasantly decorated living environment.
