Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: K zagotavljanju kakovostne in celostne oskrbe pacientov veliko pripomore vključevanje prostovoljcev v zdravstveno varstvo. Metodologija raziskovanja: Uporabili smo kvantitativno metodologijo raziskovanja. Vprašalnik so respondenti reševali v pisni in elektronski obliki. Sklep: Razvoj in izvajanje prostovoljskega dela v zdravstveni dejavnosti največ doprinese pacientu, saj pripomore k izboljšanju kakovosti in dostojnosti življenja pacienta, ki potrebuje zdravstveno oskrbo.

Title:The motives of secondary and health-related higher education students for volunteering
Abstract:Theoretical basis: The integration of volunteers in healthcare greatly contributes to ensuring quality and comprehensive patient care. The involvement of young, future health care professionals is important because they can help to improve the deployment and adoption of voluntary work in the healthcare environment. The purpose of the study was to determine the dominant motives that lead young people to perform voluntary work, and how to make these activities even more familiar. Research methodology: We have used quantitative research methodology. The respondents have filled in the questionnaire in written and electronic form. The questions covered acquaintance of young people with voluntarism, place of performing voluntary work and the main part, which evaluated the motives for performing voluntary work. Research sample included 236 high school students and 74 students of health sciences. Data analysis was conducted with descriptive and inferential statistical methods in IBM SPSS Statistics 20. Results: The research shows that 36, 77% of respondents got informed of voluntary work at the beginning of secondary education and 32, 26 % of respondents got informed in the family. Voluntary work is carried out by 31.94 % of respondents. The respondents state the lack of free time due to schoolwork as the main reason for not taking part in voluntary work (2(3, N = 211) = 4.728, p = 0.193). Students would prefer to carry out voluntary work in the pediatric field, which statistically deviates (F (3, 943) = 7.75, p <0.01). The dominant motive for carrying out voluntary work with students is the category Development and learning with an average score of 5.36 (SD = 1.66) and the statistic deviation (F (3,295) = 9.89, p <0.01). The same category stands out for students with an average score of 5.18 (SD = 1.70). However, with these students there is also a statistic deviation (F (3, 943) = 45.62, p <0.01) in category Career development with 4.42(SD = 1.91). Conclusion: The development and implementation of voluntary work in health care are major contributors to the patient because they help to improve the quality and dignity of life of a patient in need of medical care. Educational institutions play an important role in promotion and integration of young people into volunteering. The dominant motive for involvement in volunteering among young people is developing, learning and acquiring skills to perform professional work. On this dominant motive should be based strategies for development and greater involvement of young in voluntary work, which must be organized and recognized.
