Abstract:	V magistrskem delu je prikazan management na primeru Srednje šole za gostinstvo in turizem Maribor. Na opazovanem primeru smo opredelili delo ravnatelja z vidika pedagoga in z vidika poslovnega managerja. Prikazali smo različne kriterije učinkovitosti, ki so pomembni za management v šolstvu in rezultate, ki jih lahko dosega šola v sklopu dobrega managementa. V povezavi s tem želimo prikazati kompleksnost ravnateljevih nalog in katero smer ravnatelj glede na situacijo izbere: ali obravnava situacijo po managerski poti ali po pedagoški poti. V prvem delu magistrske naloge bomo natančneje opredelili, kaj sploh je management in kakšna je razlika med managementom v javnem in zaseben sektorju. Po začetnih opredelitvah managementa bomo razdelali razliko med managementom v gospodarstvu in izobraževanju. Obdelali bomo tudi participativni model managementa v šolstvu ter ugotavljali, zakaj se ta model v zadnjih letih v šolstvu vedno bolj uveljavlja. Nato bomo skozi zakonodajo opredelili ravnateljeva dela in pogoje, katerim mora zadostiti, da lahko opravlja funkcijo ravnatelja. Pomemben del celotne magistrske naloge pa je tudi delitev ravnateljevih del, in sicer na pedagoška dela in managerska dela. V tem delu bomo bolje spoznali njegov pedagoški in managerski pristop vodenja šole kot »podjetja«. V zaključnem delu magistrske naloge pa bomo predstavili Srednjo šolo za gostinstvo in turizem Maribor, njeno vizijo, poslanstvo in organiziranost. Za zaključek magistrske naloge bomo analizirali managerske pristope na omenjeni šoli.

Title:	MANAGEMENT IN EDUCATION, HEADTEACHER - AN EDUCATOR OR A MANAGER
Abstract:	The Master' s degree shows the management on the example of the Secondary School for Catering and Tourism Maribor. At the observed example we defined the work of the principal as a teacher and as a business manager. We showed different performance criteria that are important for the management of education, and results the school can reach as part of a good management. In this connection, we would like to show the complexity of the principal' s tasks, as well as principal's choice depending on the situation: handling the situation managerially or pedagogically. The first part of the master's thesis defines precisely what the management is and the difference between management for public and private sector. After the initial identification of management, the difference between business management and education management is elaborated. We will process a participatory model of management in education and established why, in recent years, this model is gaining ground in the field of education. Then we define manager's work and the conditions through legislation, which must be met in order to perform the function of principal. An important part of the overall master's thesis is a division of the principal's work, the pedagogical work and managerial work. In this section, we will understand better his teaching and managerial approach of managing school as "company". In the final part of the master's thesis, we present the Secondary School for Catering and Tourism Maribor, its vision, mission and organization. At the very end of the master's thesis we analyze the managerial approaches at the school mentioned.
