Abstract:Kulturni kapital postaja v sodobni družbi vse bolj pomemben, saj so skozi raziskave dokazali, da vpliva na učno uspešnost učencev, na izbor srednje šole in nadaljnjega izobraževanja. Uspeh učencev je poleg inteligence in vloženega truda mnogokrat odvisen tudi od količine kulturnega kapitala, ki ga pridobijo znotraj svoje družine. V magistrskem delu smo raziskovali vpliv starševskega in učenčevega kulturnega kapitala pri napovedovanju učne uspešnosti in izobrazbenih teženj osnovnošolskih mladostnikov koroške regije. V teoretičnem delu smo opredelili definicije kulturnega kapitala številnih tujih in domačih raziskovalcev. Kulturne ustanove z bogatejšo ponudbo kulturnih dogodkov so prebivalcem koroške regije nemalokrat oddaljene, prebivalcem vaškega okoliša pa redko dostopne, medtem ko so pestre ponudbe kulturnih dogodkov vsakodnevno deležni v prestolnici in drugih večjih mestih. Ker so pri šolah v koroški regiji zaznali pomanjkanje kulturnega kapitala, so se številne šole vključile v projekt Dvig socialnega in kulturnega kapitala v lokalnih skupnostih za razvoj enakih možnosti in spodbujanje socialne vključenosti. Tako je nekaj koroških šol dobilo možnost, da so izven obveznega vzgojno-izobraževalnega programa krepile in dvigovale kulturni kapital svojih učencev in njihovih staršev, saj so dobili možnost brezplačnega vključevanja na raznolike kulturne dogodke, ki si jih sicer zaradi oddaljenosti, finančnih in drugih ovir redkeje privoščijo.

Title:The influence of cultural capital on the learning achievement and further education of the carinthian elementary school students
Abstract:Cultural capital is gaining importance in contemporary society as a factor empirically proven to influence the academic success of elementary school students and subsequently their choice of secondary schools and institutions of further education. Not barring individual intelligence and diligence the success of students often depends on the amount of cultural capital acquired within their family environment. This master's thesis examines the influence of cultural capital on academic success and educational tendencies of elementary school students in the Koroška region. The theoretical part of the thesis details definitions of cultural capital by numerous foreign and domestic researchers, focusing on the differences in the amount of cultural capital based on the gender of students, their area of residence, parental educational structure and their family’s economic standing. The educational structure as a basic component of the cultural capital of adults in the Koroška region encompasses a population with a low level of education and subsequently low family income. Elementary school students in the Koroška region could benefit immensely from a greater amount of cultural capital. Whereas a diverse selection of cultural events is available in larger cities, cultural institutions providing a richer repertoire of cultural events are often too remote for the residents of the Koroška region and rarely accessible for the residents of rural areas. Due to the lack of cultural capital detected in schools in the Koroška region, numerous schools decided to participate in the project “Raising social and cultural capital in local communities for the development of equal opportunities and the promotion of social inclusion”. Thus, several schools were afforded the opportunity to strengthen and enhance the cultural capital of students and their parents outside the realms of formal educational programs through cost-free participation in various cultural events that would have otherwise usually not been possible due to geographical remoteness and financial and other obstacles.
