Abstract:Tematika diplomske naloge je morfometrična analiza meljakov podgan azijskega geografskega področja rodov Bandicota in Nesokia. Vir podatkov predstavlja 89 primerkov meljakov, pridobljenih iz muzejskih zbirk. Analize meljakov smo opravili pri podganah vrste: velika bandikota (Bandicota indica), savilejeva bandikota (Bandicota savilei), mala bandikota (Bandicota bengalensis), kratkorepa bandikota (Nesokia indica) in Bunnijeva kratkorepa bandikota (Nesokia bunii).
Keywords:Bandicota, Nesokia, meljaki, sekondarni spolni dimorfizem, oslonilna točka, geometrijska morfometrija.

Title:Morphometric variability of molars of bandicot - Genus bandicota and Nesokia
Abstract:The subject of this graduation thesis was morphometric variability of molars by the asian genus Bandicota and Nesokia. We took 89 molar samples from a museum collection. The analysises were made on following species: Bandicota indica, Bandicota savilei, Bandicota bengalensis, Nesokia indica and Nesokia bunii. The purpose of this thesis was to analyze the variability of the upper molars using the geometric morphometricity and contribute to a better understanding of their morphologic generalization in an evolutional and ecological context. We defined 18 area points which gave us basic information about the size and shape of the molars. Further we made univarate and multivariate analysises seperately for the molar shape and size. Results of multivariate analysis showed, that secondary sexual dimorphisn isn't determined by the size and shape or differences aren't statistically significant. Results of the analysis of molar size with variance analysis F – test confirmed that Bandicota indica is the biggest and Bandicota bengalensis the smallest species. Further we checked the differences in shape of spicies with discriminant analysis, which results showed small differences in shape between the spicies. In other words, teeth are an evolutionarily conservative morphological structure, which slowly change.
Keywords:Bandicota, Nesokia, molars, secondary sexual dimorphism, landmark, geometrical morphometry.
