Title:FINDING MISSING PERSONS IN SLOVENIA
Abstract:Finding missing persons is one of police's areas of work, that doesn't recive the same amount of focus as for example traffic safety and criminality. In the diploma thesis we present how the police is investigating these cases in our country, compare certain things with foreign countries and analyze statistical data. In recent years, these cases are gaining greater media attention and cooperation of other institutions and people, which is why we were interested in the role of the private investigators, their cooperation and interaction with the police and their contribution to finding a person. We found the most media exposed cases of missing persons in Slovenia and verified usage of people with paranormal abilities. In thesis we used descriptive method in overviewing scientific literature and internet sources. We processed and analyzed the police statistical data. For the purpose of the diploma thesis, we asked a private investigator, that already has experiances with missing persons cases, a few questions that we needed answeres to. We concluded, that our system doesn't use additional approaches for finding missing persons, that the cooperation between police and private investigators is bad and that we have media reportings of searches in which participation of the dowser was a success, but police denies positive developments in the investigation or finding a person under assistance of psyhics and such. Police in our country could introduce new approaches for finding persons, strengthen their cooperation with society, private investigators and media, they could also make a better use of social networks and other ways, that could be a bigger help in finding missing ones.
