Sodelujoče v raziskavi smo razdelili v skupini gibalno oviranih udeležencev (tetraplegikov) in gibalno neoviranih udeležencev.

Title:Evaluating solution for hands-free use of computer based on Emotiv EPOC+
Abstract:PC input devices and their use does not change often. With advances in technology new solutions become more accessible and offer new types of interaction with computers. In this master thesis, we will evaluate a solution for hands-free use of computer based on brain-computer interface (BCI) Emotiv EPOC+. This solution enables users to control a computer with facial expressions and thoughts (EEG). With this research, we would like to evaluate usefulness of this approach for disabled people. We divided participants into two groups. Participants of the first group were individuals without motor disabilities, participants of the second group were quadriplegics. Participants have compared and gave opinions on two different approaches for computer usage. First was their current solution with special devices or accessories, second solution was based on Emotiv EPOC+, where they used facial expressions and thoughts to control the computer. We used multiple research methods to collect data. For the practical part of the test, we adopted a quasi-experiment. Opinions of the participants were collected with a questionnaire based on the TAM and TTF models. Results of research show that EPOC+ approach is more suitable for users with higher spinal cord injury who cannot use their hands. This approach is not suitable to be used in the supine position. Quadriplegics evaluated EPOC+ approach as more useful and compliant with their work than participants without motor disabilities. Participants of both groups consider EPOC+ approach easy to use.
