Abstract:Tema diplomskega dela je raziskava delovanja rodovnikov in izdelava spletne rešitve.

Title:Web portal »african pygmy hedgehog«
Abstract:The intention of this work was to research pedigree charts and design a web solution. The lack of records in the field of african pygmy hedgehogs in Slovenia led to inbreeding, genetic diseases and lost information on their pedigrees. We created a simple web solution where hedgehog breeders can manage pedigree charts online. We researched the organization of dog pedigree charts and based on findings designed the functional specifications for african pygmy hedgehog pedigrees. We constructed entitiies using PHPMyAdmin tool on MariaDB database. We built a webpage with associated applications using a prototype approach using the Gedit tool for text files – code writing. We published the webpage online and, for the purpose of testing, invited three largest hedgehog breeders in Slovenia. All three breeders accepted the invitation to participate, the testing lasted one year. Consistent with our prototype approach we upgraded the application based on the needs of our users. We managed to create a living web portal with 183 users, 4 breeders and altogether 194 pygmy hedgehogs. Our webpage is the first link on Google search engine for the keyword »afriški beloprsi jež«. By having designed the webpage we achieved greater recognition of this animal species and also larger diversity of hedgehog litters. The new owners are now able to create an account and obtain the guardianship of their new pet hedgehog, therefore we get return informations, for example pictures and information on possible diseases, that would otherwise get lost.
