Title:Waste management in private dialysis clinics
Abstract:Every organization, small or large should strive to ensure that its activities do not burden the environment more than is absolutely necessary. To make this happen, organization must know and take certain steps. This is done by setting up an environmental program and setting environmental objectives, which include all required statutory provisions and at the same time follow the technological progress. In this thesis we want to explore existing opportunities to reduce the total mass of waste in privat hemodialysis center, we particular want to reduce hazardous health care waste taking into account the legal provisions and other environmental guidelines. With this we would like to introduce methods of handling with waste, which lead to the successful reduction of impacts on the environment and the rational management of resources consumption. Effective waste management leads organization not only to more effective management of costs but also in increased productivity and enhanced the reputation of the organization. The main challenge the health ogranization faces in this process is how to combine safe practices with least possible environmental effect. In the health services, the main emphasis is on the strict implementation of all prescribed hygiene measures, which may be sometimes on opposite banks of environmental policy, as it requires the use of hazardous substances and an increasing number of devices and materials for single use, which increase the amount of waste and consequently to excessively burdens the environment (Petrovčič, 2011). That is why we are, in hemodialysis center delivering hemodialysis treatments, focused on activities on which we have a partial impact, particularly in terms of reducing the mass of waste arising from health care. The thesis will explore practical examples of an attempt to mitigate the total weight of the waste with the main focus on reducing the weight of infectious waste. We should be aware that by raising awareness and proper waste management in health care facilities we can prevent the potential harmful effects of health care waste on the environment. At the same time we want to prevent the risk of infection and injury to persons coming into contact with the waste (Petrovčič, 2011), which is also an integral part of the document The waste management plan, which describes all types of health care waste generated in the area of provision of health services and other waste generated in a building or part thereof, where the health care activities are preformed.
