Abstract:V magistrskem delu Faroski kantaduri predstavljamo razvoj in delovanje skupine, repertoar pesmi, vokalno tehniko skupine ter osebnostne in poklicne lastnosti članov. V delu navajamo več ugotovitev, do katerih smo prišli z raziskovanjem in analizo virov.

Title:Faros' Cantors
Abstract:The master thesis titled Faros’ Cantors presents the development and work of the group, its repertoire of songs, vocal technique as well as personal and professional characteristics of the members. The first part presents the history of the city and the influence of the environment the group works in and the reasons why both components are important for the development of the group and the composition of the repertoire. The Faros’ Cantors have an important role in maintaining the original klapa a cappella songs; this is why their important role among the currently performing klapa groups is presented. They have received numerous awards for their work, the most important ones are also presented in this paper. The paper uses the descriptive, comparative and historic method of research. The paper states numerous findings which we found during the research and analysis of sources. Furthermore, the paper highlights that the group maintains its colour of sound with constant rejuvenation of the ensemble throughout the years. The vocal group represents several generations which makes the verbal transfer of the repertoire onto young singers intensive. The group also transmits a unique way of singing known as throat singing. The research has shown a large influence of church singing on klapa singing and vice versa. The difference between church and secular repertoire which has been preserved in form of oral traditions is also important. We found the church repertoire is more preserved because of its constant yearly repetition. There are written examples which lead us to argue that the Faros’ Cantors are the real guardians of musical heritage.
