Abstract:	V magistrskem delu opišemo zgodovino prve uporabe računalniških gesel, tipe gesel in njihove značilnosti. Predstavimo metode oblikovanja močnega gesla in načine varnega shranjevanja gesel ter osnovne tehnike napadov na gesla. S pomočjo programskega orodja Hashcat se lotimo praktičnega razbijanja študentskih gesel na podlagi tehnike napada z grobo silo in s slovarjem. Iz rezultatov razbijanja izdelamo končni seznam pridobljenih gesel, na podlagi katerega izvedemo osnovno analizo gesel, ki temelji na strukturi in karakteristikah pridobljenih gesel. V osrednjem delu magistrskega dela izdelamo statistično zgodovinsko analizo gesel in z ustreznimi statističnimi testi s pomočjo programskega orodja SPSS ugotovimo, ali so razlike statistično signifikantne ter tako hipoteze zavržemo ali ne. V končnem poglavju analiziramo še druge strokovne članke in raziskave, ki temeljijo na študijah karakteristik gesel in statistične analize, ter rezultate primerjamo z našimi študentskimi gesli.

Title:	How strong are students' passwords in reality – historical analysis
Abstract:	This master thesis delves into the history of early computer password usage and describes the types of passwords and their characteristics. We present different methods on how to pick a strong password and how to maintain its safety while introducing the basic techniques of password attacks. With help of software Hashcat we start cracking students' passwords in practice using the brute-force and dictionary attack techniques. Based on the results we develop a final list of acquired passwords, which serves as a basis for our basic password analysis, focusing on the structure and the characteristics of acquired passwords. As the main part of our thesis we carry out a statistical analysis of password history and run several statistically relevant tests using the SPSS software in order to find out whether the encountered differences are statistically significant and thus refute or confirm our theory. In the final chapter we analyse other scientific articles and studies that are based on password characteristics and statistical analysis and compare their results to our findings.
