Title:Prevention of spinal injuries in health care with respect to ergonomics standard: iso 11228 end en 1005
Abstract:Lifting loads is one of the most common causes of spinal injuries among care personnel. The purpose of the research is to examine the knowledge of nursing students on ISO 11228 and EN 1005, and the frequency and causes of spinal injuries. In the theoretical part, we used the descriptive method in the empirical part, we used quantitative methodology, where we as a research instrument used a questionnaire composed of 21 questions, which was sent to the students of electronics. The study involved 37 students, first and second year, post-graduate study program in Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Maribor. We found that nursing students are familiar with ISO 11228 and EN 1005 (p = 0.018). We have also found that most students of senior year believe that by complying with these standards reduce the occurrence of musculo - skeletal injuries in nursing personnel (p = 0.001). As the most common cause of spinal injuries in nursing personnel, students have indicated lifting and carrying of loads, then the size and weight of loads or. patient ... Students believe if we take account of these standards would greatly reduce the occurrence of skeletal muscle injury in nursing staff in a hospital environment. We can conclude that students have enough knowledge about standards, as we survey found that the most familiar standards manual handling, we found that it also wanted to learn more about proper lifting techniques is because the opinion that considering the standard can reduce damage to the spine. The knowledge they have is to be used for practical use and for this needs a lot of training, time, and especially enough ergonomic assistive devices at its disposal to all departments in the hospital environment.
