Meritve možganskih aktivnosti smo izvedli s komercialno dostopno napravo Emotiv EPOC+.

Title:Measuring the cognitive effort of touch-free user interfaces based on subjective assessment and EEG signals analysis using emotiv EPOC+
Abstract:The need for a more intuitive interaction was leading to the formation of a natural user interface. Natural user interface brings many new ways of hands-free interaction, which are not so widespread yet as contact interaction with mouse and keyboard. Because the focus is mainly on new technologies, inexperienced users will have to learn to use these devices, so they can use them quickly, easily and unconsciously. The user's effort depends on his prior knowledge, which is also associated with cognitive load. In this master's thesis, we conducted a survey on the basis of which we tried to determine whether the degree of cognitive load for user hands-free interaction is greater than the level of effort in the contact interaction. Cognitive load was evaluated based on subjective assessments of students in experiments and measurements of brain activity (EEG). Measurements of brain activity were performed using commercially available device Emotiv EPOC +. In the study, we compared the hands-free interaction based on the recognition of gestures by the device Kinect and Myo and contact interaction with the mouse and keyboard. The study involved 26 participants who did not have longer or more advanced experience with hands-free interaction, rather they were regular users with contact interaction experiences. The results of the analysis of brain waves showed that the effort for participants in hands-free devices interactions were a little bit higher than the results in the contact interaction, but these differences were not significant features. In the analysis of subjective evaluation, it was found that there are significant differences between the effort on the device hands-free interaction and contact interaction. Connections between cognitive load and usability, ease of use and emotional experience were also found.
