Abstract:Izhodišča: Anestezijska delovna postaja dovaja bolniku natančno mešanico kisika, zraka, dušikovega oksidula ter hlapnih anestetikov.

Title:Simulation faults during checking the anaesthesia workstation
Abstract:Starting point: Anaesthesia Workstation delivers to the patient an accurate mix of oxygen, air, nitrous oxide and volatile anesthetics. Checking the workstation must be done on a regular basis, before each operation, so we can note and fix faults that may occur. The purpose of the study was to simulate the faults and determine whether the Anaesthesia Workstation detects them and how to respond. Research methods: In the experimental study, we conducted scenarios of various faults on the workstation Dräger Primus in a controlled simulated environment. We simulated the inadequate delivery of oxygen, improperly installed vaporiser and we launched leakage of respiratory gas to the gas sampling tubes on the respiratory system. While checking the workstation the pressure relief valve was set to the wrong pressure value. Results: The results obtained shows that we can simulate both faults in the installation of central gas as defects in the respiratory system. We were not able to simulate the fault on the fan. Discussion and conclusion: We find that Anaesthesia Workstation detects faults. Still, unfortunately, situations arise where automatic checklist fails, so the medical staff play an important role during the workstation verification.
