Abstract:Z razmahom informacijsko-komunikacijske tehnologije so se za organizacije odprla nova obzorja.

Title:Social networks as a staffing tool
Abstract:With the expansion of information communication technologies organizations have been introduced to a whole new world. Social media are the ones that brought new dimensions and ways of doing business, communicating and employment. Social media are not just websites, applications and platforms, but are living networks that are creating new communities in the virtual world and building relations between people. They are interactive, simple to use, accessible, a source of information, a medium for communication, networking and keeping in touch with others, and they are also a tool for marketing and promoting. One of the dimensions which is coming to the forefront is their role in the employment sector. Employers now have the option to publish available jobs on social media, to search for suitable candidates and do background checks on potential candidates. On the other hand, from the perspective of job seekers, social media offer options for creating your own brand, self-promotion and for searching and creating new business opportunities. In the master’s thesis we researched the connections between staffing and social media. We focused on two social networks Facebook and LinkedIn and explored if companies in Slovenia recognize these two social networks as new ways of staffing. We used the survey method with the help of a questionnaire. Managers of companies in Slovenia filled out a hundred and ten questionnaires, and these represented the foundation for our statistics. We came to the conclusion that less than 70% of companies in Slovenia recognize Facebook and LinkedIn as new tools of staffing. Furthermore, we concluded that managers treat staffing with the help of the Employment service of Slovenia with the same importance as staffing with the help of social networks Facebook and LinkedIn. We also concluded that managers from primary and secondary sectors evaluate staffing with the help of social media equally to the managers from tertiary and quaternary sectors.
