Abstract:Prvi del diplomskega dela predstavlja teoretično ozadje akumulacije toplote in način delovanja fazno spremenljivih snovi- PCM in glavne značilnosti le teh.

Title:PCM accumulation of heat in construction materials
Abstract:The first part of the bachelor thesis is the theoretic part. In this part we theoretically present thermal energy storage and phase change materials. We present the principle of thermal energy storage using the PCM and divide PCMs into three main grups. Then we describe the pros and cons of each of those three groups. In the last part of the theoretic part we describe the encapsulation techniques of the PCMs. Encapsulation of the PCM is the key for use of PCM in buildings. In the second part of bachelor thesis we focus on mathemathic analysis of use of phase changing materials for cooling of buildings in the summer heat. We have dealt with four types of applications in layer of the wall. We found out that we can apply the most mass of the PCM if we apply it into the brick We also found out we can change heat flux anyway we want, because heat flux mostly depends on the value of thermal conductivity coeffient of the PCM and on the value of thermal conductivity coefficient of the material in which it is applied. There is linear connection between the mass of the PCM and the heat, that PCM can accumulate and because of that we must use the highest allowed amount of mass of the PCM, so we can use the benefits of PCMs as long as we can. With the application of the PCM in the wall we look to sligthly increase the heat flux throughout the wall, because this means that the thermal conductivity coefficient of the PCM is higher than the thermal conductivity coefficient of the materials in which it is applied. Higher thermal conductivity coefficient of the material means that it can store and release heat faster.
