Title:Planning transportation of children at the example of primary school poljčane
Abstract:Throughout history, people have encountered different types of migrations. Due to lifestyle changes in the contemporary era, migrations became even more frequent. Arrivals to and departures from the school facilities are a type of migration we come across at an early age, in childhood. Transportation of primary-school children is legalised; primary schools are required to provide organised transportation for children who are unable to safely come to school by themselves or are living far away from their school. Organised transportation of children to school is therefore the central subject of our thesis. In their efforts to resolve these problems, schools are faced with several difficulties, i.e. major financial expenses on the one hand, and the parents’ expectations and assuring safety on the other. The purpose of the thesis is to analyse the current situation, to conduct a critical analysis and to propose improvements. The solving of the problem will be divided into two phases. In phase one, we will discuss the problem from the aspect of location, establishing the optimal number of bus stops and where they should be situated. In phase two, we will determine the vehicles for these particular bus stops. Based on the cost indicators we will acquire throughout the thesis, we will compare our solution to the current situation and estimate whether our solution is better and, of course, whether implementation is even possible.
