V diplomskem delu smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo dela. Opisali smo kako poteka odpust pacienta in kakšne so posebnosti načrtovanega odpusta.

Title:Discharge and education of patients with intestinal stoma
Abstract:Hospitalized patients facing various digestive system diseases, the consequences of which can also be a stoma, are affected physically and emotionally. The stoma patients need the support of their closest people and medical professionals. A medical nurse confronts these patients with their altered self-esteem and lifestyle, meets their needs and provides assistance. In this thesis, the descriptive method was used. Its aim was to provide a description of stomas and list the types of intestinal stomas. The data was obtained by meansof pre-existing written sources. Among its goals was to establish what physical and psychological alterations such patients face following surgical operation, and to present the tasks and role of a medical nurse. When the stoma patients are psychologically stable and can take care of themselves, discharge preparations initiate. In the thesis, the process of patient discharge and special circumstances of a planned discharge are described. Because patients are left on their own after discharge, they need to receive the support of a medicalnurse (an enterostomal therapist). The thesis thus contains a description of the educational role of a medical nurse (an enterostomal therapist) at the patient’s home, and a description of such patients’ social life following discharge.
