Abstract:	Tako gospodarstvo kot tudi domača gospodinjstva za nemoteno delovanje potrebujejo podporo bančnega sistema. Pomembnost bank v nacionalnem gospodarstvu lahko zasledimo na vsakem koraku, zato je ključno, da poznamo njihovo delovanje. V delu diplomskega projekta smo preučili zakonodajno okolje, podrobneje spoznali bančništvo ter analizirali računovodska izkaza dveh bank za obdobje štirih let (2012, 2013, 2014 in 2015). Banka v domači lasti, katere predstavnica je Nova ljubljanska banka, d. d., ter banka v tuji lasti, katere predstavnica je SKB banka, d. d.; slednji poslujeta na slovenskem območju. Prepričati smo se želeli, katera od omenjenih bank posluje uspešneje in učinkoviteje. Predpostavili smo, da banka v domači lasti posluje učinkoviteje ter je uspešnejša kot banka v tuji lasti. Vendar smo po pregledu računovodskih izkazov, izdelavi primerljivih izkazov poslovnega izida in izkazu finančnega položaja ter izračunu kazalnikov ugotovili, da sta zastavljeni hipotezi napačni.

Title:	Comparison of performance and efficiency of a domestic bank compared to a foreign owned bank
Abstract:	Both the economy and domestic households need a functioning support of the banking system. The importance of the bank in the national economy can be found everywhere. So therefore it is crucial that we know how the banking system works. In the graduation thesis we examined the regulatory environment in more detail, learned about banking and analyzed the financial statements of two banks for a period of four years (2012, 2013, 2014 in 2015). The bank that is domestically owned, whose representative is Nova Ljubljanska banka d. d. and a foreign-owned bank which representative is SKB banka d. d. they both operate in Slovenian territory. We wanted to see which of these banks operates more effectively and efficiently. We have assumed, that the domestic owned bank operates more efficiently and is more successful than a foreign-owned bank. However after reviewing the financial statements, preparation of comparable income statements and the statement of financial position and the calculation of indicators we found out that the hypotheses are wrong.
