Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Hospitalne infekcije so pomemben kazalec kakovostne in varne oskrbe pacienta v bolnišničnem okolju. Nadzor, preprečevanje in spremljanje okužb je temeljna naloga vseh zaposlenih v zdravstveni negi in oskrbi.

Title:Awareness of the importance of infections prevention in hospitals from the viewpoint of nursing care
Abstract:Theory: Hospital infections are an important indicator of qualitative and safe patient care in the environment of a hospital. Control, prevention and the monitoring of infections is the fundamental task of every employee in health care. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis (diploma) is to describe the prevention of hospital infections from the perspective of health care, as well as to present the measures, which prevent hospital infections, focusing on and emphasizing the hand hygiene among health workers. With the research we want to find out how big the awareness of the importance of hand hygiene among health workers is. The methodology of the research: For the theoretical part of the thesis we used the descriptive method. In the research 74 people who are employed in health care participated. The results: With the help of this research we have concluded that the workers employed in health care are unified and believe that health workers can make a great influence to prevent the transfer of hospital infections. As much as 80% of the workers think that hand hygiene is the most important measure for the prevention of infections, which for us is of an extreme importance, because hand hygiene is the exact and most common reason for transmitting the infections from patient to patient. Conclusion: Hospital infections are a permanent problem in hospitals because they cannot be totally prevented and on top of everything they endanger the patient’s health. What is more important is that we, the health workers are aware of the fact that with the proper hand hygiene, we can prevent a huge amount of infections related with health.
