Title:Measures to reduce the hazards of domino effects
Abstract:In this thesis, we made a research on mishaps of domino effects which occur rarely, however, when they do occur they have massive consequences due to the dispersal of effects from a primary processing unit to the nearby facilities. They can cause permanent damage to humans, animals, property, plants and on an environment. The dispersal of the effect of domino reactions can happen because of the too small distance between the tanks, lack of safety measures which are carried out by hardware and software, and another cause can be a lack of human activity. Even though the legislation mentions the danger of domino effect and also anticipates activities for assessment, control, and prevention of chain effect, it does not give us direct instructions on how to execute it. Even the students when they are at college do not get enough or any information on chain effect. This is why the engineers in companies have no instructions how to analyze the probability of domino effect and how to plan security measures, which prevent damage and increase safety. This is the reason why we wanted to write our thesis. We developed a simplified methodology, and its main goal is to minimize all dangers that come along with chain effect. The methodology with its stated steps and elaborate description could help the engineers in practice.
