Title:Roma families with preschool children and kindergarten in prekmurje and bela krajina
Abstract:The Roma are an ethical group of people that most of us do not know much about. They are recognizable for its slightly darker skin colour, usually dressed in extremely colourful clothes, living in simple homes with a larger number of family members. They speak their own, somewhat different language, in spite of the fact they live in the same area of Slovenia as we. The final paper The Romani Family with a Pre-School Child and Kindergarten in Prekmurje and Bela Krajina Region, aims to determine whether there is a difference between the inclusion of pre-school Roma children in kindergarten and their way of life in Prekmurje and Bela krajina region. The first part of the theoretical work presents, in more detail, the beginnings and the history of the Roma people. The second part describes the way of life of the Roma people and the life of the Romani family with a pre-school child. The paper describes their characteristics, as well as special features of their culture and customs. At the end of the theoretical part, the focus is on raising a pre-school Roma child, their inclusion of in the public educational institutions, the obstacles they are encountering and finally something about inclusion and integration of the Roma children in both the kindergartens and schools. The empirical part presents the acquired data, obtained through interviewing kindergarten teachers, assistant teachers and assistant teachers of Romani origin working in three different kindergartens, both in the Prekmurjeregion, as well as in Bela krajina. In addition, the survey questionnaire, which was filled by thirty Roma parents in Prekmurje and thirty Roma parents of pre-school children in the Bela krajina region. The researchwas based on whether there is a difference in the inclusion of pre-school Roma children in the kindergarten, depending on the place of their residence (Prekmurje or Bela krajina). The last part of the paper offers an insight into the way of life of the Roma people, to determine possible differences between Prekmurje and Bela krajina region.
