Abstract:	Predstavljamo miroljubno kmetijstvo, kot trajnostno prakso sodobne agrikulture in varovanja okolja. Zanimalo nas je, če lahko ta način ekološkega kmetovanja iz vidika varovanja okolja predstavlja alternativo sedanjemu globalnemu kmetovanju z živinorejo, ali je posledično miroljubno kmetijstvo možna rešitev za ključne okoljevarstvene izzive 21. stoletja in če ti izvirajo iz globalne živinoreje ter človekovega načina prehranjevanja. Kmetijstvo je kot osnovna dejavnost človeka zaradi okolju škodljivemu načinu pridelovanja hrane, ki izvira predvsem iz živinoreje, postalo ključen okoljevarstveni in družbeni problem 21. stoletja, ki v večinski meri ogroža našo varnost, zdravje ter obstoj na Zemlji in bo za realistično spopadanje ter reševanje v prihodnje potreboval hiter, odločen in učinkovit odziv vseh držav sveta. Vpliv živinoreje na okolje je zagotovo premalo znan. Živinoreja zaradi velike porabe naravnih virov, kopenskih površin ter reje živali in njihovih izločkov v negativnem smislu vpliva na vsa okoljevarstvena področja in to v prevladujoči meri. Več kot polovica toplogrednih plinov, ki povzročajo podnebne spremembe, nastane v globalni živinoreji. Nujno potrebujemo udejanjanje sonaravnih načinov kmetovanja, ki so usmerjeni v rastlinsko pridelavo ter predelavo in splošno ščitenje podnebja, v ohranjanje in podpiranje biotske raznovrstnosti živih bitij in habitatov ter k trajnostnemu porabljanju naravnih virov. Če želimo zmanjšati vpliv človeka na okolje, bi bilo nujno zmanjšati porabo živalskih produktov. Miroljubno kmetijstvo je lahko odgovor na nujo po zmanjšanju vpliva človeka na okolje.

Title:	The practice of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection – ''peaceful agriculture''
Abstract:	The aim of this research is to present peaceful agriculture as a practice of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection. Assessing, whether this method of organic agriculture presents an alternative to today’s global agriculture with its livestock in terms of environmental protection, and to asses whether peaceful agriculture can present a solution to the major environmental challenges of the 21st century that originate from global livestock and diet of humans, was the main purpose of this research. The fundamental activity of mankind - agriculture, has become a key factor in current environmental and social problems because of the detrimental impact of agriculture, mainly of livestock, on the environment, which is threatening our security, health and existence on Earth. For future challenges and solutions we are going to have to acquire a fast, determined and efficient response of all nations worldwide. It is certain, that the impact of livestock agriculture on the environment is not well-known. Because of the great natural resource consumption, land usage, breading of animals and consequential by-products (manures) animal agriculture influences the entire environment in a negative way and to a great extent. Livestock is responsible for more than half anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions on the planet. It is urgent that we put more sustainable methods of agriculture into practise that are plant production oriented and protect the environment and climate, methods that are preserving the biodiversity of organisms, habitats and are using natural resources more efficiently and sustainably. If we want to lower the impact of humankind on nature and the environment, the change in diet in terms of reducing the consumption of animal products, is necessary. Peaceful agriculture can be the solution for the need to lower the influence of mankind on the environment.
