Title:Comparison of Oil Pumpkin Production Techniques in Slovenia between 1998 and 2016
Abstract:The production of oil pumpkins in Slovenia has increased up to 5800 ha throughout the years. A survey of the changes in oil pumpkin production techniques between 1998 and 2016 was analyzed using the survey. The influence of education (agricultural, not agricultural), agricultural holding size in ha (6 to 10 ha, more than 10 hectares) and the way of cultivation (ecological, conventional and PDO farming) were analysed. The survey was conducted in the Pomurska, Podravska and Savinjska regions. The average size of the holding increased by 0.6 ha over the studied period. The surface area for pumpkin oil production increased from 1 ha to 3 ha. Producers still use the types 'Gleisdorferke golico' and 'Slovensko golico'. New preparations for the protection of oil have been registered on the market. From the obtained results, we can conclude that the production of oil pumpkins has not changed in recent decades. The size of the holding has an impact on the selection of varietal material, on the design of the ring, on soil analysis, on the amount of seed consumed per ha, on the harvest and on the amount of oil pumpkin production. The method of production influences the selection of assortment, size of cultivated areas for pumpkin production, ring design, soil analysis, fertilization, amount of seed consumption, sowing method, harvest and crop amount.
