Abstract:V magistrski nalogi z naslovom Matrica in odtis v lesorezu sem besedilo razčlenila na tri dele. V prvem delu sem s teoretičnega vidika raziskala in opisala pojem lesorez v umetnosti, njegov razvoj in zgodovino. Svoje raziskovanje lesoreza skozi zgodovino sem zaključila z opisom petih umetnikov, ki so ustvarjalci sodobnega lesoreza. To so Štefan Galič, Thomas Klipper, Barthelemy Toguo, Bryan Nash Gill in Maria Bonomi. V drugem delu naloge sem opisala lasten odnos do lesa. Raziskala sem, kaj mi les v umetnosti nudi in kaj mi omogoča pri ustvarjanju. Lesorez se je skozi zgodovino počasi razvijal in danes nam omogoča različne pristope in tehnike obdelave lesa. Najprej sem predstavila lastna dela z vsebinskega in likovnega vidika. Nato sem skozi lastno doživljanje in izkušnje opisala postopek priprave lesene matrice in lesene tiskovne površine. Ključen pomen za pravilno pripravo matrico so imele izbira, priprava in obdelava lesa.

Title:Matrix and impression in wood engraving
Abstract:This Master's thesis entitled Matrix and Impression in Wood Engraving is divided into three parts. In the first one, I researched and described from a theoretical point of view the notion of wood engraving and woodcuts in art, its development and history. I completed my research of woodcuts through history with the description of five artists who are creators of modern woodcuts. These are Štefan Galič, Thomas Klipper, Barthelemy Toguo, Bryan Nash Gill in Maria Bonomi. In the second part of my thesis, I described my own attitude towards wood. I researched what wood offers me in art and what it enables when creating. Woodcutting has slowly evolved over the course of history and today it allows us different approaches and woodworking techniques. Firstly, I presented my own works from the content and artistic perspective. Then, through my own involvement and experience, I described the process of preparing the wooden matrix and wooden printing surface. The choice, preparation and treatment of wood was the key to the correct preparation of the matrix. I also included the issues I encountered and how I resolved them. I devoted the third part of the thesis to my own exhibition. I described the course of the exhibition through my experience with words, accompanying text at the exhibition and photographic images. With a survey and its analysis, I examined at the exhibition what attracted the viewer more as the final product, the matrix or the print; and at the same time which printing surface is more convincing- paper, veneer or wood.
Keywords:Woodcut, letterpress, history of woodcut, woodcut techniques, veneer, solid wood, matrix, print, printing surface.
