Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Dojenje v javnosti je v današnjem svetu v različnih državah različno sprejeto.

Title:Sociological aspects of breastfeeding in public
Abstract:Theoretical basis and purpose: Breastfeeding in public is in various countries variously accepted. In some countries, breastfeeding in public is prohibited by law, while other countries accept it. The lactating mother is facing many problems and one of them is also occasional need for breastfeeding in public. The aim of this thesis is to examine acceptance of breastfeeding in public and the importance of breastfeeding for society. Research metodology: We have used the descriptive and comparative work method. A survey questionnaire with 23 qustions was used to collect data from a sample of 75 woman and 75 men, which were randomly selected. We have statistically analized the data with the help of a computer programme called Excel and then displayed the results by using diagrams. Results: There are no significant gender differences in the acceptance of breastfeeding in public. Religious people and those who are right politically oriented mostly accept breastfeeding in public. The society believes, that breastfeeding affects the personality development of an individual and that in Slovenia we do not need a law that would prohibit breastfeeding in public. Conclusion: In Slovenia, breastfeeding in public is generally well accepted. Raising awareness of the importance of breastfeeding for both - the child and the mother is very important for encourage nursing mothers to breastfeed their babies when they are hungry, even if they are in a public place.
