Abstract:	Leta 2013. je Univerza v Mariboru opredelila svojo strategijo razvoja v obdobju 2013-2020. Skladno s predmetno strategijo, magistrska naloga ponuja pogled na prostorski koncept razvoja območja tehniških fakultet UM. Predmetno univerzitetno območje je locirano tik ob zahodnem robu starega mestnega jedra mesta Maribor. Lokacija ponuja izredne priložnosti za prepoznavnost območja v prostoru, vendar so univerzitetni objekti medsebojno programsko nepovezani, prostorsko in oblikovno nedorečeni in vsebinsko ne odražajo definicijo univerzitetnega kampusa. Obstoječa pozidava ni dovolj vpletena v mestna dogajanja, kar se reflektira v manjši prepoznavnosti mesta Maribor kot pomembnega univerzitetnega središča regije in širše. S povečanjem in posodobitvijo površin namenjenih za izobraževalno dejavnost bo mesto Maribor pridobilo večje število študentov, doživelo bo migracijsko preobrazbo, število prebivalcev bo zraslo. Z rasti števila prebivalcev, tudi ostale vsebine mesta pridobijo večjo prioriteto, se razvijajo in dopolnjujejo, kar omogoča nove investicije in sveži kapital. S prepoznavnostjo fakultete in kvalitetnimi univerzitetnimi vsebinami pričakujemo v mestu Maribor rast števila domačih in tujih študentov. Magistrska naloga predstavlja vizijo prostorskega razvoja predmetnega območja s poudarkom na umestitev nove stavbe poslovnega univerzitetnega središča (skrajšano ime objekta PCTF:UM) kot stalne interakcije teorije in prakse, mesto prepletanja univerzitetnega in tržnega razmišljanja. S predmetno prenovo univerzitetnega dela mestnega središča mesto Maribor dobi novi generator zagona.

Title:	CENTRAL BUILDING OF TECHNICAL CAMPUS UNIVERSITY OF MARIBOR
Abstract:	In 2013, the University of Maribor defined its development strategy for the period 2013–2020. In the line with this strategy, the master's thesis offers a look at the spatial concept of development of the area of technical faculties, operating under the University of Maribor. The analysed area is located right next to the western edge of the old Maribor city centre. The location offers exceptional opportunities for the visibility of the area in the space, but the university facilities are not interconnected in terms of the program, they are spatially and structurally undefined and do not substantially reflect the definition of a university campus. The existing building structure is not sufficiently involved in urban events, which is reflected in a lower recognition of the City of Maribor as an important university centre of the region and beyond. By increasing and modernizing the areas intended for educational activities, the City of Maribor will acquire a larger number of students, experience a migration transformation and an increase of the number of inhabitants. Due to the growing number of inhabitants, other contents of the city are also assigned a higher priority and are being developed and completed, which generates new investments and capital injections. With the visibility of the faculty and quality university contents, we expect an increase in the number of domestic and foreign students in Maribor. The master's thesis represents a vision of the spatial development of the discussed area with an emphasis on the placement of a new business university centre building (abbreviated building name PCTF:UM) as a constant interaction of theory and practice, a place of interweaving university and market thinking. With the discussed renovation of the university part of the city centre, the City of Maribor gets a new generator of momentum.
