Title:Nurses in the care of dying patients
Abstract:Introduction: Care for the dying patient represents a set of values, humanity and humanity that intertwine in nursing care. An important segment is the work experience, knowledge and education of employees in nursing care. The purpose of this research is to identify and present the care for dying patients by nursing staff and the impact of work experience, knowledge and education of nursing staff on the attitude towards care for dying patients. Research methodology: A descriptive study was carried out. The basis of the research work was the review of domestic and foreign professional literature. We used a quantitative research methodology for the research, where we included 49 targeted nursing. The obtained data was statistically treated with chi-square test and One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Bonferroni correction. Results: Our results show that most respondents have a positive attitude in the care of dying patients (84%). We were not able to confirm the links between the attitude in the care of dying patients and years of work experience (chi-square = 1.152; p = 0.562), additional education about the attitude in care for dying patients (chi-square = 4.743; p = 0.315) or level of education (chi-square = 1.175; p = 0.882). The number of experience in caring for dying patients is related to the presented fear of death (p = 0.019) and death avoidance (p = 0.002). Discussion and conclusion: The positive attitude of employees in nursing care in the care of dying patients is of utmost importance since it is mostly dependent on them. Experience with care for dying patients reduces the fear of employees in health care.
