Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava besedotvorni proces, tj. poenobesedenje ali univerbizacijo.

Title:Univerbisation in the dictionary of the Standard Slovenian language 2 (based on the nouns from a to č)
Abstract:Master thesis discusses a word-formation process called univerbation. Univerbation is a process in which a synonymous relationship is established between simultaneously existing subordinate fixed noun phrase most frequently with an adjective as a premodifier, which functions as a motivating phrase, and its one-word noun equivalent as the derived word. In this process of lexical motivation, the head word of the noun phrase becomes the formative and a suffix is added to the modifier. For univerbised words of masculine gender the most frequent formatives are -ež/-ec and -ik, and for feminine words formatives -ica and -ka. There are 72 univerbised noun words from A to Č in The Dictionary of Standard Slovenian Language from 2014 and their corresponding set phrases are examined according to the frequency of using in the Gigafida corpus and Google search engine. Most of the univerbised words are connected to names of people, substances, devices and objects connected to the media. Non-clipped base adjectives from set phrase are prevailing. There are 60 univerbised nouns found in The Dictionary of Standard Slovenian Language from A to Č that have one meaning and prevalent neutral types of base phrases. Forty univerbised words are stylistically non-stigmatised and most of the other 32 stylistically stigmatised univerbised words are labelled as expressive.
