Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Hitro in pravilno ukrepanje ob nezgodah je izjemno pomembno, saj s tem pripomoremo k boljši prognozi. Raziskovalna metodologija: Uporabili smo deskriptivno metodo analize podatkov. Vključili smo domačo in tujo literaturo iz različnih baz podatkov. V raziskovalnem delu smo uporabil kvantitativno metodologijo raziskovanja. Izdelali smo anketni vprašalnik, v katerega smo vključili 50 naključno izbranih prebivalcev savinjske regije, starejših od 18 let. Rezultati: Na podlagi raziskave, smo ugotovili dobro poznavanje prve pomoči laične populacije o oskrbi ran.

Title:Knowledge of first aid wound care among laic population
Abstract:Theoretical background: A quick and appropriate response in case of emergencies is essential, as it can significantly improve the prognosis. It is also important that people realize they are duty-bound to provide assistance to injured persons to the best of their ability. In our diploma thesis, we examine in detail different types of wounds, treatments for various injuries, and different ways to stop bleeding. On the basis of the collected data, we were able to determine the level of knowledge of laypersons about wound care. Research methodology: We used the descriptive method of analysis. We reviewed both Slovenian and foreign scholarly literature from various academic databases. The quantitative research method was used in the empirical part of the study. We designed a survey questionnaire which was distributed to 50 randomly selected residents of the Savinja Region that were older than 18 years. Results: Our research found that laypersons have good knowledge of first aid with regard to wound care. In general, they are all prepared to provide assistance to anyone who would require it. They have good knowledge of first aid and how to treat various injuries but are still not convinced that their knowledge is correct. With additional education courses, which most of the respondents would attend, they could refresh their knowledge and be more confident in providing first aid. Conclusion: Good knowledge of first aid is very important, as it can save lives. In case of an emergency, it is important to not be afraid and provide immediate assistance to the best of one’s knowledge and ability until emergency medical services arrive.
