Abstract:V magistrskem delu uvodoma opredelimo pojme, značilnosti, usmerjanje, programe in individualiziran program otrok z avtističnimi motnjami.

Title:The transition between elementary school programs for children with autistic spectrum disorders
Abstract:Initially, the concepts, characteristics, streaming, programs and individualized educational programs for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are defined and elaborated in the Master thesis. The rationale of research is to examine how children with ASD in Slovenia are streamed by education streaming committees and later on transferred between various programs in primary public education, which and how severe their special needs are, and how the children with ASD are supported in overcoming the obstacles through the implementation of individualized educational programs. In the empirical chapter, five research questions are set and investigated by the use of research methods of document analysis and semi-structured interviews with professional staff. Research results are grounded in the theory from Slovenian and international references in the field of children with ASD. Experts' Reports, Individualized Educational Programs, and Evaluations during two school years are examined and analyzed in detail for four children with the diagnosis ASD in the Education Streaming Statement. Due to a small sample, the conclusions of document analysis cannot be generalized. Nevertheless, the conclusions have been confirmed by the professional staff in semi-structured interviews. In the context of the growing incidence of children with ASD in Slovenia, it is crucial that there is a continuum of educational programs available in both, mainstream and special public education, and that the education legislation regulates the re-streaming procedure and the transition between programs when needed, taking into account the child's achievement of goals in the Individualized Educational Program and standards of knowledge in various programs.
