Abstract:Težke kovine so kot posledica stranskih produktov številnih industrij ena izmed največjih onesnažil pitnih vod po svetu. Mešanico alg smo zdrobili v prah in imobilizirali z 2 % raztopino alginata, ki smo jo zamrežili z 2 % CaCl2 in nato izvedli eksperimente biosorpcije kovinskih ionov Cr6+. Delovne raztopine Cr6+ smo pripravili z redčenjem osnovne standardne raztopine.

Title:Biosorption of Cr6+ ions on immobilized algae mixture on alginate beads
Abstract:Heavy metals are one of the main pollutants of drinking water in the world as side products of many industries. One of many pollutants is hexavalent chromium whose removal from water is more difficult and less researched. The mixture of three different species of algae, Spirulina, Chlorella and Litothamnium from capsules NutriLab was immobilized on calcium alginate. In the following study, we focused on the use of dead biomass because in other research scientists discovered chromium to be very toxic to the living organisms. We tested if the effect would be higher relying on the synergy of the three different algae species as well. By immobilization, we enabled easier separation of the biosorbent and the solution of chromium ions. The mixture of algae was crushed in powder and immobilized with a 2 % solution of alginate, which was entrapped with 2 % CaCl2. Then the experiments of biosorption of Cr6+ were performed. Working Cr6+ solutions were made with a dilution of the basic solution. The experimental results showed that the most influential factors on biosorption are the pH value and the temperature at which the tests were performed.
