Abstract:Diplomsko delo opisuje posledice uporabe alkohola in psihoaktivnih snovi pri udeležencih v cestnem prometu.

Title:The presence of alcohol and psychoactive substances and their influence on driving
Abstract:The following thesis describes the consequences regarding alcohol and psychoactive substances consumption by traffic participants. I have provided an in-depth analysis of different researches, yearly reports, statistics and visual representations which show classification of traffic accidents that took place within the last years. The repercussions for using illegal substances, as well as completely legal medications for treating various conditions and disorders, are also accurately presented. In this thesis, I have primarily focused on the most commonly detected substances which are known to be used among the drivers, and described them in detail. I have obtained publicly available data from police reports and data from the Slovenian traffic safety agency to successfully carry out the research and the empirical part of this thesis. I have posed three research questions which have been verified by empirical statistic methods. Firstly, I wondered if the number of alcoholised traffic accident offenders on Slovene roads is increasing. The gathered data showed that the number of alcoholised drivers has been decreasing in the last year. Next, I questioned if the number of traffic accident offenders that used psychoactive substances on Slovene roads is decreasing. I have confirmed the hypothesis on this question, because police statistics state that the number of traffic accident offenders that used psychoactive substances has been decreasing. Lastly, I wondered if the number of alcoholised traffic accident offenders on Slovene roads is higher than of those using psychoactive substances. I have confirmed this hypothesis because, according to the police records, the number of alcoholised accident offenders on Slovenian roads is higher than that of offenders that use psychoactive substances. In this thesis, I have also presented preventive campaigns and programmes which advocate prevention and minimizing the usage of alcohol and psychoactive substances in traffic.
