Title:Instagram post as a type of text: a text-linguistical and stylistic analysis
Abstract:The aim of this paper is to find out, whether we can classify the Instagram post as a type of text. In an attempt to answer this question, the chosen examples, taken from authentic, German-speaking public Instagram profiles of Disney Deutschland (@disneydeutschland) and Tanja Schulze (@tatanjaschulze) have undergone a text-linguistic and stylistic analysis in order to find out its properties. The text-linguistical part focused on the example text's correspondence to de Beaugrande and Dressler's (1981) seven Standards of Textuality, the stylistic part researched the example texts functional features as well as properties of their stylistic level. Finally, we attempted to define the Instagram post as a type of text according to Marx and Weidacher's (2014) Theory and Classification of the Evolution of Online Texts.
