Abstract:Diplomska naloga poleg osnovnih klasifikacij strelnega orožja in streliva zajema temeljito predstavitev in opis posameznih sledi, ki nastanejo ob streljanju z orožjem ter načine njihove prepoznave in interpretacije.

Title:Forensic aspect of shooting
Abstract:In addition to the basic classifications of firearms and ammunition, the diploma includes a thorough presentation and description of the individual traces, resulting from the discharge of a firearm as well as methods for its detection and interpretation. Besides the characteristic marks on spent cartridges and bullets, the focus is on gunshot residue and the techiques of their analysis. Gunshot residues are a by-product of firing, and are as such important for estimation of firing range and time since firearm discharge, identification of firearm type and its caliber, identification of entrance and exit wounds and establishing the connection between the shooter and the firearm in question. Presence or abstance of gunshot residue provides a significant impact on the investigation of alleged suicides, murders and other criminal offenses involving the use of a firearm, and is vital to the success of further criminal case proceedings. Gunshot residue can be detected on a various parts of the body surface, including the clothing of the shooter, and all surfaces in the immediate vacinity of the firearm discharge. During the investigation of crimes involving the use of a firearm, the type and composition of organic and inorganic particles originating from the propellant and primer determines the method for its analysis. Ballistic reconstruction represents the synthesis of findings from the field of ballistic and forensic investigations, forensic medicine, computer technologies and laser scanning, for the sheer purpose of illustrating the possible course of shooting, involving all objects and persons in the simulation of the environment of criminal offense.
