Abstract:V letu 2017 smo ugotavljali, rast mladičev, dveh različnih pasem golobov king in florentinec. Največjo razliko v masi mladičev smo ugotovili ob petem zaporednem tehtanju ob starosti trinajst dni, ko so mladiči Kingov povprečno tehtali 639 g in Florentincev 486,36 g.

Title:The growth of squabs
Abstract:In 2017, we observed the growth of squabs of two different breeds of pigeons, the King and the Florentine. We divided the growth of squabs into different parts, courting and mating, physical properties of eggs, parental care for eggs, feeding the squabs and the growth and weight of the squabs. We found out that in the time of courting and mating the breeds showed statistical difference in the number of daily events. We also found that the volume of the eggs of the King breed is 27.7 ml and is larger compared to the Florentines, which is 24.8 ml. The differences between breeds were also observed in their care of eggs. A female Florentine sits on its eggs for about 19,37,00 hours per day on average, and males for about 4,22,00 hours, in comparison with the Kings where females sit for 18,58,00 hours a day and males for 5,02,00 hours per day. After the hatching of the squabs, we wanted to determine whether the number of feedings is related to the growth of the squabs. We also found that both breeds reached the highest increase in squab growth on the thirteenth day. The biggest difference between the breeds is when the squabs are ten days old and the difference in their weight is 19.7 g/day. The largest difference in weight was found at the fifth consecutive weighing when the squabs of the Kings weighed 639g and the Florentines weighed 486.36 g.
