Title:Nursing student's knowledge of first aid for hypothermia
Abstract:Introduction: Hypothermia as one of the serious life-threatening conditions is a potentially dangerous drop in body temperature, usually caused by prolonged exposure to cold temperatures. Knowing first aid procedures at hypothermic persons is crucial, especially in the implementation of basic and additional recovery procedures Method: In the final part, we used quantitative research methodology. We did the survey with questionnaire in one of the nurse school in Slovenia. Results from 103 respondents are presented with the descriptive statistic and data was processed using the application 1KA application and program Microsoft Excel. Results: The study concluded that the theoretical knowledge regarding hypothermia and its causes and consequences is satisfying. The same it is with the first aid. Discussion and conclusion: Regarding the results of the survey, we found out that students have a satisfying knowledge of hypothermia, but we can critically assess that knowledge should be upgraded. That knowledge should be upgraded especially with the topics about giving cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of therapy.
