Title:Economic Estimation of Broiler Breeding with Different Heating Systems in Stables
Abstract:The aim of this master thesis is to financially evaluate the new build of broiler farm equipped with different heating systems. We have evaluated nine heating modes while keeping the same construction of the farm. We have used three different heat sources for nine heating modes. Heat sources were wood chips (biomass), fossil gas and electricity. The end result was a simulation model for evaluation of broiler breeding economics based on different heating systems and regimes. In addition to breeding economics we have also evaluated initial farm build and setup investment. Results from our simulation model show very high differences using different heating fuels and modes. The result shows that we need to pay special attention to the equipment we use for our farm heating. We have calculated the highest coefficient of economics in fourth heating mode (3,5), while mode five was the worst (1,27). We have also evaluated how fast will the farm pay itself off (net current value (NSV)). Farms with heating modes three and four pay off in ten years time while mode five doesn't reach zero even in twenty years. As a result of this masters thesis, according to the data we have available, we suggest using wood biomass for heating in combination with underfloor heating for broiler breeding farm.
