Title:Development of product and manufacturing technology for the olympics weightlifting barbell according to iwf standard
Abstract:The Olympic barbell is a universal piece of exercise equipment, used in all strength sports. It has been used in modern Olympic Games since 1896. Dimensions and other characteristics are dictated by the standards of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The purpose of this master's thesis is the project management of the development of an Olympic barbell, adapted to the IWF standard. The aim is to select the appropriate material and prepare relevant technology for the barbell's production. The entire development process of the product is subdivided into several lifecycle phases, each of them supported by the final documents at the end of every chapter. The body paragraphs of the thesis are divided between the choice of material through the chemical analysis of competition's products, the production technology with emphasis on knurling and electrochemical surface protection. A computer-implemented strength analysis confirmed the selected material of a Slovenian manufacturer. The sales price of the product is proposed by analyzing all the development and production costs for a single barbell. The determined technological project concludes with the integration and results obtained are handed over to the client for the completion of the project.
