Segrevanje ozračja celo največja alpska smučišča sili v resen razmislek, kako privabiti in zadržati smučarje.

Title:The impact of climate change on ski tourism in the Alps
Abstract:The consequences of global warming are warmer winters, glacier melting, and ski tourism, which is still the most important economic activity in the Alps. Skiing has long been big business as global ski industry is estimated at between 60 and 70 billion American dollars (Vanat, 2014). Green winters, as the result of climate change, can only be challenged with artificial snow in both, Slovenia and abroad. However, many ski resorts cannot afford that due to high costs of snow making equipment and the lack of water resources. Moreover, even the biggest ski resorts are forced to prompt consideration of how to attract and keep skiers. The empirical part of master degree provides answers to how global warming actually affects ski tourism, if at all. Statistical analysis of key data in ski tourism gives surprising results on temperature trends in the past few decades at Vogel, Lech, and Kronplatz ski resorts. The master degree also deals with artificial snow making, sustainable measures, and future directions that Alpine ski centres should build on.
