V Sloveniji so nekatera zavarovanja zakonsko določena, medtem ko so druga zavarovanja prostovoljna. V ta namen so zavarovalnice sprejele vrsto ukrepov, s katerimi poskušajo preprečiti takšna dejanja.

Title:Insurance of motor vehicles in Slovenia
Abstract:Nowadays, the number of motor vehicles in Slovenia is increasing daily. Thus, the property risks associated with the use of motor vehicles are almost unavoidable for drivers. Therefore, it is of great importance to manage these risks arising from the usage of motor vehicles. For purpose of protecting the drivers from these risks, insurance companies in Slovenia offer different types of insurances. In Slovenia some types of insurance are mandatory, while others are voluntary. It is mandatory, for all motor vehicle users, to take out motor liability insurance. Comprehensive insurance is not mandatory but provides compensation of damages in an event of an accident. It is also very important that the insurance contractor is made aware of the risks and dangers in case of inadequate insurance, prior to signing the insurance contract. In recent years, the number of insurance frauds has increased significantly in Slovenia, with an intention to gain access to unlawful payments from insurances by individuals or organised groups. For this purpose, insurance companies have adopted several measures to try and prevent such actions.
