Abstract:Okoljska problematika postaja v svetu vse bolj aktualna. Največji potencial so proizvajalci tovornih vozil prepoznali v elektriki in plinu.

Title:Alternative road freight vehicles
Abstract:Environmental issues are becoming more and more relevant all over the world. People have started changing the world in a negative way with activities which result in climate change. One of the biggest factors resulting in pollution is transport which is very important for the operation of the world’s economy. Although most of our planet is covered by water, most of the goods are still transported via roads. Road transportation, with fossil fuel cargo vehicles as its biggest factor, pollutes the environment with greenhouse gas emissions, PM particles, black carbon and noise. Alternative fuel sources started emerging with the intention of lowering these influences. The manufacturers of cargo vehicles recognised the biggest potential in electricity and natural gas. The first can only be used in urban distribution whereas natural gas is also suitable for long distance transportation. Examples of good practises come from Slovenia and abroad due to the fact that some transport companies have already decided to buy alternative cargo vehicles. We are still far away from total replacement or transition to alternative fuel sources because the areas of infrastructure and legislation have to be improved.
