Abstract:Pomen blagovne menjave in gospodarskega povezovanja je znan že iz preteklosti. In kaj nam prinaša prihodnost?

Title:Advantages and Disadvantages of Globalization
Abstract:The importance of commodity trade and economic integration has been known for a long time. However, the rapid development of technology and the expansion of digitalization have affected the growing importance of international cooperation and globalization. Supporters of globalization believe that globalization has the potential to improve the world and helps to solve one of the most rooted problems such as poverty and unemployment. Opponents, however, are of the opinion that globalization has made the inequalities among the world's population bigger and has allowed wealthy people to become even wealthier, while it has made poor people poorer and more vulnerable. The main purpose of this work is to research the advantages and disadvantages of the macroeconomic phenomenon called globalization. Globalization focuses on the concept of free trade, it increases economic growth, stimulates innovation, creates jobs for highly skilled workforce and lowers the prices of goods and products. Without a doubt, globalization is good for developed and developing countries, which got the access to global markets, what is more, it has made their exports cheaper. The spreading of this global phenomenon is presented with the KOF Globalization Index issued by the Swiss Economic Institute in Zurich, which shows that globalization is the most widespread in developed and developing countries, while in underdeveloped countries it cannot be traced to such an extent. We also focused on the disadvantages of globalization. With the help of progress in technology, globalization not only contributes to job transformation and causes structural unemployment, but it also increases income inequality around the world. With the world being more and more connected, and with more borders being opened, the number of illegal activities is growing. So what does the future bring? In the future, we are going to witness a number of changes in various sectors such as transport, energy, financial services and telecommunication. Globalization 4.0 implements work automation, which will again result in structural unemployment.
