Abstract:Vse hitrejša globalizacija in širjenje podjetij na tuje trge vpliva na vse večjo število in nujnost po multikulturnih timih.

Title:Multicultural teams
Abstract:Increasing globalization and the expansion of companies to foreign markets has affected the increasing number and urgency of multicultural teams. Multicultural teams in organizations can appear in different forms, for example, as symbolic, bicultural or multicultural team. Cultural diversity in multicultural teams can have both positive and negative impact on a productivity, work and conflict resolution. In the diploma project we presented the concept of culture and cultural dimensions according to Hofstede, Trompenaars, Hall and House. In the second chapter we described the concept of teamwork and a team. We also described different types and models of multicultural teams and the impacts of cultural diversity on a teamwork. In the third chapter, we identified the conflict and described different types of conflicts. We also described the impact of cultural dimensions on conflict resolution and the individual style of conflict resolution. In the research part we used a questionnaire, which helped us to determine how respondents perceived working in multicultural teams. The survey involved 41 respondents who had already worked in the multicultural team in their past. We came to the conclusion that multicultural teams achieve good results if team members are aware of their diversity and cooperate with each other. Members of multicultural teams usually develop more and better ideas, which are the results of different point of views, knowledge and experiences. On the other hand, members of multicultural teams face a lot of problems such as stereotypes, communicational problems and conflicts. We can reduce stereotypes for an example with a workshop about them. On these workshops team members should discuss about different cultural stereotypes and their impact on teamwork.
