Abstract:Po svetu največ paradižnika pridelujemo v zaščitenih prostorih na intenziven in pogosto netrajnosten način, ki zahteva velike vložke fitofarmacevtskih sredstev, gnojil in vode. Arletta F1 in cv. Benatar F1. Benatar F1 (4.063 kg ha-1 in 2.380 kg ha-1).

Title:The influence of grafting on yield and yield quality in two tomato varieties
Abstract:Most worldwide tomato production takes place in greenhouses which often use intensive and unsustainable systems with large inputs of fertilizers, water and plant protection chemicals. With the use of grafting, the need for these inputs could be decreased as well as enable production in less suitable areas. In 2018, at UKC Pohorski dvor, an experiment was carried out where two tomato varieties (cv. Arletta F1 and cv. Benatar F1) were grafted onto a resistant rootstock 'TOR 9055 F1'. The study showed that cleft grafting is relatively simple, even for people with little experience. A 96.7% ('Arletta F1') and 91.2% ('Benatar F1') success rate was achieved. In the open field experiment, with distinctly unfavourable weather conditions, grafting did not significantly affect yield or yield quality. However, a significant difference was recorded when comparing the two varieties included in the experiment. Cv. Arletta F1 attained a significantly higher total (16.670 kg ha-1) and marketable (8.580 kg ha-1) yields when compared to cv. Benatar F1 (4.063 kg ha-1 in 2.380 kg ha-1). Due to the unfavourable weather conditions during the experiment, the presence of late blight on plant leaves was also visually recorded (% of affected leaf surface). Grafting also did not have a significant influence on the overall presence of late blight. We recorded 8,6% higher leaf infection on cv. Benatar F1 compared to cv. Arletta F1.
